Exclusive: ‘One Tree Hill’s Haley Delivers A Kid!

One Tree Hill’s pregnant Haley will deliver a Kid sooner rather than later, when rapper Kid Cudi guest-stars and performs on this season’s 10th episode, Fancast has learned.

A lesser man would leave you with that winning headline and intro and call it a day, but I will write more….

In the episode “Lists, Plans,” airing November 30, Cudi (aka Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi) will act in a few scenes as well as perform his hit song “Erase Me” at Club TRIC, as part of a concert gig set up by Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti).

‘Tree Hill’s most recent musical foray took place just weeks ago, when Haley and Mia (Kate Voegele) crossed over to sister show ‘Life Unexpected.’ There, they – as well as Grammy winner Sarah McLachlan – performed.

Now in its eighth season – and having weathered cast and time-slot changes – ‘Tree Hill’ continues to be one of TV’s pluckiest underdog tales. In its most recent outing, the series matched its season high among women 18-34 (aka The CW’s sweet spot) and delivered its best women 18-49 numbers since the season premiere.

One Tree Hill: Haley Will Use Her Own Crisis to Help Others

Following the recent death of her mother and near-death of her sister, Quinn, One Tree Hill‘s Haley James Scott (Bethany Joy Galeotti) knows plenty about hardship. Now that Quinn is out of the woods, Haley will put her experiences to good use, as she helps others by joining a crisis center.

“Haley decides when Quinn is in peril, ‘I want to give back,’ and says, ‘If you’ll just see her through this I’ll be better about remembering that I have a lot of good things in my world,’” creator Mark Schwahn tells TVGuide.com.

One Tree Hill‘s Mark Schwahn: Season 8 will be A return to form

Last season, viewers watched Haley fall into extreme depression. Schwahn says that even though Haley has turned the corner, he doesn’t want to be dismissive about people suffering from depression in real life.

“We saw her breakthrough coming in [last year's] finale, and that’s the direction we’ll continue to go,” he says. “She’ll still struggle a little bit and she says that to Nathan. The crisis center extends from those things.”

Although Haley will be busy with the crisis center, her music won’t completely be put to the backburner. Just as Schwahn cast singer Kate Voegele as Mia, Peyton’s protégé who now works with Haley, a new voice will be heading to the series.

“There’s a musician I fell in love with and a storyline I fell in love with, and we actually married them together [for] Laura Izibor,” Schwahn says. “She’s really compelling, I loved her record, I really loved her accent and her vibe, and felt that was an energy we hadn’t included on our show.

“As a fly on the wall for Haley and Mia I think she’ll be really great,” he says.

‘One Tree Hill’ exec teases Haley problems

The executive producer of One Tree Hill has revealed that Haley will face some problems in the new season.

Speaking to Zap2It, Mark Schwahn explained that Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) will be thrown when she discovers that her sister Quinn (Shantel VanSanten) has been shot.

“Our intentions were for the character to move on from the darkness,” he said. “But then Clay [Robert Buckley] and Quinn had some trouble.”

Schwahn continued: “Our decision to go there with Clay and Quinn had a lot to do with Haley. She was just coming up for air, and now, with something so threatening, there’s the possibility that it’ll affect her emotionally and affect her pregnancy. She could grow stronger, but this could also be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.”

However, Schwahn explained that he does want to see Haley’s pregnancy succeed.

“I like Nathan [James Lafferty] and Haley’s family growing,” he explained. “We’ve got the drama and the struggle that comes with the pregnancy, so we’d like to see the payoff. It does depend on the episode count.

“We’d love to see a sibling for Jamie [Jackson Brundage] – after all, when One Tree Hill began, it was at its core a show about brothers.”

One Tree Hill returns for a new season on September 14 on The CW.

‘One Tree Hill’ Season 8

After so many years, we’ve gotten pretty invested in the Tree Hill gang, so when we got Mark Schwahn on the phone, we had a whole lot of ground to cover. Here’s what we got out of him!

Haley does not have an easy road ahead. After her mother’s death, Haley became so depressed that she was almost unrecognizable, in a memorable performance by Bethany Joy Galeotti. Just as things are looking up — especially with a baby on the way — Haley’s world is about to be rocked again when she learns that her sister has been shot.

“Our intentions were for the character to move on from the darkness,” Schwahn says, “But then Clay and Quinn had some trouble.” No kidding. “Our decision to go there with Clay and Quinn had a lot to do with Haley. She was just coming up for air, and now, with something so threatening, there’s the possibility that it’ll affect her emotionally and affect her pregnancy. She could grow stronger, but this could also be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.”

Hopefully, we will meet the newest Scott baby. With only 13 episodes to work with so far, there are some challenges in telling the pregnancy story, but Schwahn would ultimately like Haley to have her baby. “I like Nathan and Haley’s family growing,” he says. “We’ve got the drama and the struggle that comes with the pregnancy, so we’d like to see the payoff. It does depend on the episode count.

We’d love to see a sibling for Jamie (Jackson Brundage) — after all, when “One Tree Hill” began, it was at its core a show about brothers.

Red Bedroom Records will welcome a new musical protege. “One Tree Hill” has always nurtured musical artists — most recently Kate Voegele and Wakey! Wakey!, but let’s not forget Tyler Hilton, The Wreckers, and even Galeotti’s band Everly. This season, a new face will step behind the microphone. “We love the opportunity to shine a light on acts that are underserved and underappreciated,” Schwahn says. “We’re doing something similar this year, but I won’t say who it is, because that story line is built around the surprise. Music is always front and center for us. We’ve still got bands on stage at Tric.”

Ask Ausiello Spoiler

Question: Any new One Tree Hill scoop? —Ryan

Ausiello: The rumors are true: Life is imitating art for Bethany Joy Galeotti, who’s expecting her first child this winter. There’s also buzz that Galeotti has informed One Tree Hill producers that she will not be sticking around beyond this season, but a source close to the show tells me that’s hogwash. (Yes, he/she actually used the word hogwash.)

‘One Tree Hill’/'Life Unexpected’ crossover

Two One Tree Hill characters are about to pay an unexpected visit to Portland.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that new Tuesday companions One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected will stage a crossover this fall when OTH songbirds Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) and Mia (Kate Voegele) guest-star on the Oct. 12 episode of LUX.

From a creative standpoint, the stunt actually makes sense. Haley and Mia will travel to Portland to perform at a music festival sponsored by Cate’s (Shiri Appleby) radio station. “Haley and Cate are surprised to learn that they share a similar back story [as] mothers,” teases an insider.

Business-wise, The CW is no doubt hoping some of OTH‘s 3 million viewers will check out LUX.

One Tree Hill Scoop

Can you tell me anything about ‘One Tree Hill’s Nathan and Haley? I heard rumors of a pregnancy! – megundo via Twitter

Ah, the perpetual Naley Baby talk. Well, this much I can tease: Haley is a huge part of the last four episodes of this season (which resumes April 19), and Bethany Joy Galeotti “did a wonderful job with the material,” says a pal at the show.
