One Tree Hill wouldn’t have been the same without the maturity, optimism and faith in love that Haley James Scott, played by Bethany Joy Galeotti brought to the show. Though the show is seeing it’s last season and will be taking it’s final bow in just a few short weeks, Bethany Joy Galeotti has left fans with a lifetime of memories. From the first time Nathan and Haley kissed in the rain, to the birth of James Lucas Scott, fans will take the positivity Haley had with them. Bethany Joy Galeotti isn’t just the “tutor-girl” fans came to love; she is a mother, wife and aspiring writer and a real inspiration to young women everywhere. While the CW has produced mostly dramas, One Tree Hill cast an exceptionally inspirational group of people who have become role models to the young eyes who watched them week to week. Parents could, with some discretion of course, not be afraid that their children were being poorly influenced by impossible dreams or poor role models. Sure the show had moments that weren’t meant for young eyes, like the moment when Dan shot his own brother in cold blood, but the brightness that Bethany Joy brought to Haley was overwhelming, even in the darkest moments.

How is your relationship with Joy? Did you guys bond quickly?
When I first joined the show, the first day before I started shooting, I met Rob and I met Joy. Rob and I instantly clicked because we’re both 5 years old on the inside and completely immature and joke around all the time. It’s funny. Joy and I, I feel like we’re already sisters. She just had her baby, Maria, and I’m going to cry when I talk about it, but I was one of the four people who was in the delivery room. I got to see her and help her deliver her baby. It was one of the most amazing miracles I’ve ever experienced. And it will forever bond her and I even further. So, if anybody asks if we’re friends, it’s more that she’s my sister. She’s amazing and she’s talented and she’s what I call a “Renaissance woman.” Now she has a little girl, she writes, she wrote a whole play, came up with the music for it….she’s so incredibly talented and I love being around her because it inspires me to want to do more, be more and have more goals because she’s so incredible.

‘One Tree Hill’s’ Bethany Joy Galeotti on ‘Life Unexpected’ and returning to the roots of Tree Hill
After eight years of watching Bethany Joy Galeotti‘s “One Tree Hill” character grow from a chatterbox high-school student to a misguided one-hit-wonder to a capable, strong wife and mother, we were thrilled to learn that she has no intention of walking away from the show before its final episode.
Galeotti, who is in the middle of directing an episode of “One Tree Hill,” took some time out of her Saturday morning to chat with us about what’s coming up for Haley and Nathan in the final season. She also gave us the dish on her music career and the highly anticipated musical “Life Unexpected” crossover, which airs at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12. Galeotti performs one of her songs from Everly, her collaboration with friend Amber Sweeney.
Zap2it: You must be so busy right now! Can you tell us a little bit about the episode that you’re directing?
Galeotti: It’s a Thanksgiving episode. I’m having a great time. It’s got some really nice, heartwarming moments. It’s a nice kind of back to our roots “One Tree Hill” episode with that family feeling of the whole gang coming together.

What was it like filming the ‘One Tree Hill’ crossover?
It was really fun. It was Bethany Joy and Kate Voegele, and it was a big singing sensation day. We had Sarah McLachlan and Ben Lee and a bunch of musicians come on. It was great because I’ve known Bethany Joy since we were like 17 years old, and she’s obviously on the other side of the coin now coming to the end of an eight-year run on the show that forced her to live in another state away from her friends and family. So there was a lot that you could sit down and ask her. How did she survive this? How did she figure out how to have a social life and be a part of her family, being so far away?
